Obama hopes to create ‘a million young Barack Obamas’

“After I left office, what I realized is that the Obama Foundation could potentially create a platform for young, up-and-coming leaders, both in the United States and all around the world to come together, meet together, create a digital platform where they could exchange information,” Obama said.

“If I could do that effectively, then I would create a hundred, or a thousand, or a million young Barack Obamas or Michelle Obamas,” he added.

“The single most important thing I can do is to help develop the next generation,” he said.

Eric Holder says he’s considering a presidential bid

“If I were going to do it, I would do it because I would think I would have concluded that I could maybe unify the country, because it’s bigger than any one person,” Holder said.

“That I could repair and then advance the nation in a variety of contexts. That I had something to contribute. That would be, I think that would push me toward considering the run,” he continued.

“On the negative side, I’ve been in public life a fair amount of years. I remember unpleasant hearings with some congressman who are now leaving. And you know, to subject myself and my family to that could be a negative,” he added.

Holder has previously spoken about a desire to take a more active role since President Trump took office.

Israeli army kills 17 Palestinians in Gaza protests

More than 1,400 others wounded by Israeli forces during march calling for return of Palestinian refugees to their lands.

The Palestinian Authority has declared Saturday a day of national mourning after 17 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces as thousands marched near Gaza’s border with Israel in a major demonstration marking the 42nd anniversary of Land Day.

Adalah, a legal centre for Palestinian rights in Israel, condemned the Israeli army’s use of force, calling it a violation of international law.

“Live gunfire on unarmed civilians constitutes a brutal violation of the international legal obligation to distinguish between civilians and combatants,” the group said in a statement.
