Astrology: breezing through change

Astrology is all about relationships.

Mathematical and geometric relationships.

Human and non-human relationships.

Relationships with aspects of ourselves,

Relationships with the past and the future – with the lineage that’s shaped us, and the legacy we create, moving through life.

We’ve just experienced the gorgeous energy of a Taurus New Moon, with its focus on the physical: our own resources, the things we can touch and lay claim to, our bodies, our physical comfort, our sensory delight.

It’s a potent time to initiate an improvement in our own relationship with those immediately tangible aspects of life.

But wait … there’s more!

When a New Moon occurs in any sign, it’s like a light switch is flipped on, and our attention is drawn there. And we find quite a bit more going on here.

Of course we’re all across the whole Uranus-in -Taurus thing, the cycle which will go for the next seven years.

That dynamic got an extra breath of fresh air, as Mercury breezed in and invited new thoughts about our own relationships with all those Taurean things, as well as our approach to the Uranian Taurus journey.

He entered Taurus and almost immediately lit up Uranus (exact times below).

And that shifted the relationship we have with that lord of unexpected change and his paradigm-shifting shenanigans.

Mercury brings an invitation to apply a little cool intellect to the Uranian shakeup. Being able to stand back and analyze can be helpful in a time of change.

But Mercury isn’t just about the intellect. He’s also the trickster energy, so it’s smart to be prepared for the unexpected, in a Good Way.

If things have begun to feel like they’re loosening up, getting ready to shift, but not yet fully clear – don’t be surprised to find flashes of crystal clarity and an increased capacity to decide, seemingly coming out of left field.

And, by corollary, get ready to let new ideas replace sludgy outmoded ones.

Re-examine any old “should”s and replace them with could, especially in relationships with those who might be habitually relying on those old habits of duty and obligation.

Use curiosity to explore new systems and structures which might improve your relationships with your money and your practical resources.

And remember that I mentioned relationships?

While Mercury took up residence in Venus-ruled Taurus, Venus herself moved into a key relationship with practical taskmaster Saturn.

This brings some welcome stability to what could otherwise feel like unexpected squalls and highly changeable weather.

Those squalls and unexpected gusts might move you forward in amazing ways, but they’re not always easy or smooth.

Saturn will help stabilize things, because his natural style is steady, step-by-step, grounded.

And what will help even more is changing your own thoughts about the current astrology, and finding your sweet spot with it.

There’s no doubt it could be feeling intense for some, depending on where this is landing in your chart. I have several natal planets being bounced around by this, so I know it can feel like a lot!

But don’t start fearing it, because that’s never useful. I’ve said before, if you see doom and gloom in your regular astro sources, or friends start sharing sky-is-falling astrology memes – delete that shit. It’s not helping.

Don’t be wishing for it to be over soon, or for the intensity to be turned down.

And DEFINITELY don’t be wishing for it not to happen, so you can sink back into old unhelpful ways of being.

Acceptance is a great place to start.

And if you can, embrace what’s potential here, and do a little work to help increase your own capacity.

For me, that starts with your thoughts – the realm of our old friend Mercury.

What thoughts do you habitually entertain, especially in relation to your body, your money and your resources?

As you become aware of them, skip the temptation to judge them (or to judge yourself, for having them).

Embrace that there is a new paradigm coming, one that’s just waiting to be formed.

What would you like that new paradigm to look like?

What new-to-you thoughts would help support that new paradigm?

Let Mercury fill you with curiosity, while Venus helps you know what you want, unapologetically.

Then ask, if that were true now, what thoughts would I be thinking?

Perhaps it could be:

  • I’m so good at this!
  • I love my money systems
  • My body is amazing and I love her
  • We live in a world full of blessings
  • Nobody else gets to decide for me; I love that!
  • I’m really excited for the Uranian adventure ahead!
  • More things are possible than I can currently imagine

What thoughts will you start entertaining?

Exact times (US Eastern time)

  • 6 May 2019, 1:25 PM – Mercury into Taurus
  • 7 May 2019, 8:26 AM – Venus (20 deg Aries) squares Saturn Rx (20 deg Capricorn)
