Trump claims he will temporarily suspend immigration into the US due to coronavirus fears

Trump administration officials on Tuesday morning scrambled to finalize an executive order after President Donald Trump said in a late-night tweet he would temporarily suspend immigration to the United States as the nation battles the health and economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” he tweeted.

Millennials are getting screwed by the economy. Again.

Two once-in-a-lifetime crises have had devastating consequences for millennials.

In early March, as Covid-19 cases began to surface across the country, activists were warning that the virus would wreak havoc within homeless populations. Now, more than a month after shelter-in-place orders have been in effect in most major cities, the numbers have proven activists right.

In mid-April, New York City announced there were 460 positive cases and at least 27 deaths among its homeless population of more than 60,000In San Francisco, an outbreak in a shelter led to more than 100 positive cases, 10 of them staff members. In Los Angeles County, a majority of the coronavirus cases among the homeless — of the more than 30 so far — are from those who live on the street.

Former first lady Michelle Obama has made clear she’s not interested in running for office. That isn’t stopping her admirers from trying to persuade her to do otherwise.

With the Democratic primary settled, the Rev. Al Sharpton says he now includes a political consideration in his daily prayers: God, please let Michelle Obama be Joe Biden’s running mate.

Sharpton’s decision to implore a higher power is perhaps unique among Democrats, but the strong sentiment is commonplace among party leaders, operatives, rank-and-file voters — and it’s led many to hold out hope she’ll be Biden’s vice-presidential pick.
