Reading Time: 2 minutes It’s not easy getting old, as the saying goes, and it can be even harder to watch your parents age. Helping parents transition into the later years of their lives can be a delicate matter, but there are ways to help them ease into an elderly stage and cope better with challenges.
Carol Lavin Bernick, former executive chairman of Alberto Culver, navigated this type of life transition with her parents. In her book, “Gather As You Go: Lessons Learned Along the Way,”Bernick offers tips to give and get joy while preserving your parents’ dignity in addition to wisdom on business and leadership, philanthropy, dealing with tough times and being a working mom.
Reading Time: 2 minutes Setu, a yoga community built as a platform for “elevating practitioners with different body types, skin colors, gender identities, and life stories.” The site serves as a portal for people to check out and support teachers, as well as find classes, videos, and communities to join. Setu dropped a video this week to cement their message that yoga does not discriminate, and the people we see at the front of the yoga studio should reflect that.
So one more time for the people in the back: Yoga is for everyone. Let’s start teaching like it is.
Reading Time: 3 minutes For the past couple months, however, I’ve begun adding walking into the mix, and I have to admit that now I really see what all the fuss has been about. Not only has it been good exercise that gets my heart rate up, it has also had a great impact on my mood, energy level, and my productivity at work. And, as you might expect, research supports my experience.
Reading Time: 4 minutes There is a reason that powerful women get called witches. The patriarchy has never been comfortable with women having power of any kind. Equality feels like oppression to those who have always had the upper hand. But our power is ours. And our magic is a result of that power. And our magic can save the world.
If powerful women using their own unique brand of magic to do good in the world is the definition of witch, then count me in and call me a witch. I know I’ll be in good company.

by Confluenceby ConfluenceReading Time: 2 minutes “She always makes a little altar for me at the game, because she just wills it so much,” Brady said. “So she put together a little altar for me that I can bring with pictures of my kids, and I have these little special stones and healing stones and protection stones, and she has me wear this necklace, and take these drops she makes, and I say all these mantras, and I stopped questioning her a long time ago.”

An intimate chat with the couple selling the ’50 Shades of Maple Glen’ home
by Confluenceby ConfluenceReading Time: 8 minutes Oh, about that basement.
It used to be a playground for kids with a PlayStation, foosball set and ping-pong table. Now, it doubles as a sexy Airbnb draw when the family isn’t home, and Vince and Priscilla’s bedroom when they are at home.
With the capacity of changing the mood nightly with different lighting and musical settings, it’s become their oasis, even if Vince hates that term.
“We created a fantasy room, and we love it,” Priscilla said. “We laugh at life. We don’t take it too seriously. People may judge us, but we don’t care.”
