Cory Booker Goes Full ‘Rick James’ on Senate, Releases Brett Kavanaugh’s Confidential Emails

“We had a number of those documents released to us the night before,” said Booker. “I brought up a document entitled ‘Racial profiling’ … And the fact that. there’s nothing in that document that’s personal information. There’s nothing national security-related. The fact that it was labeled committee confidential exposes that this process, sir, is a bit of a sham.”

Grassley and other Senate Republicans chided Booker’s questions as “inappropriate.”

Until Booker pulled a Suge Knight-like move that might stand as one of the greatest gangsta moves in Senate history.

“I’m going to release the email about racial profiling. And I understand the penalty comes with potential ousting from the Senate,” said Booker. “And if Senator Cornyn believes that I have violated Senate Rules, I openly invite and accept the consequences.”

Leaked email shows Brett Kavanaugh thinks Roe v. Wade could be overturned

The Supreme Court nominee has called Roe “settled law.” Leaked documents show that’s meaningless.

Since President Trump nominated him to the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh has maintained that he considers Roe v. Wade “settled law.” Emails released on Thursday by the New York Times show how little that really means.

The emails, leaked to the Times by an unknown person, were classified as “committee confidential,” meaning they could be viewed by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee as part of the confirmation process but could not be shared with the public.

In his confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Kavanaugh said that Roe, the landmark decision guaranteeing Americans the right to an abortion, was “settled as a precedent of the Supreme Court.” Reproductive rights groups have cautioned that such language doesn’t mean much because the Supreme Court can always break with precedent if it chooses. In one of the emails released Thursday, Kavanaugh says essentially the same thing: “I am not sure that all legal scholars refer to Roe as the settled law of the land at the Supreme Court level since Court can always overrule its precedent.”

Syria war: the US ‘has seen evidence’ chemical weapons being prepared

The new US envoy for Syria has said there is “lots of evidence” that Syrian government forces are preparing to use chemical weapons in Idlib.

Jim Jeffrey said an anticipated offensive against the last major rebel-held area would be a “reckless escalation”, Reuters reported.

The Syrian government has repeatedly denied ever using chemical weapons.

Russian planes have bombed rebel areas in the north-western region as troops mass for the expected offensive.

It comes as a summit is due to take place in Iran on Friday between the leaders of Russia and Iran, which both support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and Turkey, which has backed some rebel factions.

The UN has warned of a humanitarian catastrophe if an all-out assault takes place and Turkey fears a new influx of refugees across its border.
