Trump tells 57,000 Hondurans who’ve lived in the US for 20 years to get out

It’s yet another move that will turn people who are in the US legally into unauthorized immigrants.

By January 2020, the Trump administration will have turned 400,000 people who are currently in the US legally into unauthorized immigrants.

The administration announced Friday that it is going to stop granting Temporary Protected Status — a protection given to people in the wake of humanitarian disasters in their home countries — to 57,000 Hondurans who’ve been living in the US for 20 years. They’ll have one last chance to apply for TPS for 18 months and will lose their protections on January 5, 2020 — making them unable to work in the US legally as of that date, and vulnerable to deportation.

Over the next two years, the Trump administration will strip TPS from immigrants from six different countries — all but strangling the program.

‘US Embassy’ road signs appear in Jerusalem

Road signs installed close to location of the US consulate building that will be repurposed as embassy on May 14.

“By taking Jerusalem off the table, I wanted to make it clear that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and as for specific boundaries, I would support what both sides agreed to,” Trump told newspaper Israel Hayom.

The international community, the Arab League and other groups urged the US president to reconsider.

“If US President Donald Trump carries out his decision, he will inflame the entire region and threaten the US’ interests there,” Nabil Shaath, an adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said to Palestine TV in February.

The move overturns decades of international consensus on Jerusalem, a highly contested city, half of which was occupied and annexed by Israel following the 1967 War.

The second teenager allegedly raped and set ablaze within days in India

A second teenage girl is reported to have been raped and set on fire in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, just days after a 16-year-old was similarly attacked in the same state.

It is the latest in a series of brutal crimes against women across India in recent months that have sparked outrage and large protests nationwide.
In response to earlier incidents, thousands of people took to the streets across the country in late April to protest against sexual violence, some of the largest demonstrations since the highly publicized rape and murder of a female college student in Delhi in 2012.
The latest victim, a 17-year-old girl, was in the hospital Monday afternoon after suffering burns to 70% of her body, according to Shailendra Prasad Barnwal, superintendent of police in Jharkhand’s Pakur district.
